Snow Leopard Expedition - Feb 2020
The Snow Leopard photo expedition is in Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary , a part of Lahul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh.
The Kibber village is in the fringes of Sanctuary, during summer a scenic place with less than 500 inhabitants and surrounded by picturesque mountains, barren landscape, and green meadows.
It is also place for many snow-dwelling animals such as Ibex, Blue Sheep, Red Fox, Tibetan Woolly Hare, Himalayan Wolf, Lynx, Tibetan Wild Ass, and Snow Leopard.
Being the fact that Kibber is at the height of 14,000ft,In the month of Feburary this village is covered with snow and this also a good time for spotting this Himalayan Ghost.
The spotting of the Snow Leopard in the vast mountains is like searching the needle in the haystack. The expedition may involve moderate level of trekking(though where ever possible, reach by vehicle is the first choice)
The weather is harsh in the mountain ranges in this season. The morning weather would be between -10 deg C to 0 deg C and night temperature going even down by -25 deg C added to that is low oxygen level due to high altitude.
